简介：客人们来到塞内夏尔家参加晚宴，却发现晚宴要在明晚才举行。他们只好去一家小酒馆，但计划再次受挫，因为小酒馆正在为他们刚去世的店主守灵。另一次聚餐也由于塞内夏尔夫妇偷偷从家里溜出去亲热而临时取消；来客们却误以为警察要发动袭击，赶紧溜之大吉。接下来的一次晚宴也被迫中断，因为拉练的部队出人意料地出现在塞内夏尔公馆。甚至噩梦也为他们要举办晚宴这一受挫的努力提供佐料：他们兴致勃勃入席，却莫名其妙发现身边的帷幕突然拉起，他们成了坐在舞台上用餐的表演者。还有一次，陆军上校当着唐·拉斐尔大使的面污辱了所谓的米兰达共和国，险些酿成外交灾祸，当然更不必提那晚的聚餐了。就这样，影片中的六个人物（包括塞内夏尔夫妇、唐·拉斐尔大使）不断地坐下来用餐，却总是出现意想不到的障碍，使他们吃不成。

简介：Based on an unknown Schönberg opera from 1929, From Today Until Tomorrow explores one night in a not-quite loveless marriage. A husband and wife return from a party where she has flirted with another man, while he has cast an appraising eye toward an attractive, fashionably dressed acquaintance of his wife’s. Though each dreams, briefly, of leaving the marriage for the excitement and mystery of a new lover, in the end they decide stability and comfort are more important than the fleeting thrill of new romance. Directors Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, who previously collaborated on two other films about music (The Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach, 1968, and Moses and Aaron, 1975), rely on long fixed shots in austere black-and-white so that the focus remains on the musical brilliance of Schönberg’s atonal score, performed here by 70 musicians. That Schönberg would choose such a relatively lighthearted message for his newly discovered musical language remains a mystery, especially since the conclusion reached by the husband and wife—to stick with the tried and true—seems directly at odds with Schönberg’s own philosophy of composing. It is just this juxtaposition, however, coupled with Straub and Huillet’s faithful presentation, that makes the opera a compelling addition to the Schönberg canon—and the film such a challenging and intriguing experience.

简介：Though Delluc's career was short-lived, it burst vigorously(7 films in 4 years)that it forever left its imprint on french cinema history, and they rightly honoured him by giving the annual Prix Delluc to the best French film of the year. He was responsible for the creation of influential cinema  journals like Le Journal du Ciné-Club and Cinéa, founding numerous film societies, writing countless articles and coining the term cineaste. Delluc believed that films should be set in the natural without elaborate posturing, and characters should be portrayed in an intimate way where the past and present, illusion and reality can be correlated, all considered to be avant-garde at its time. He died only a few weeks after the shooting of The Flood at the age of 33.
